Midian was raised in Boulder Colorado. Unsatisfied with her very ordinary and common birth name at age 15 she legally changed her first name to Midian, having discovered it in a novel by Clive Barker titled Cabal and later turned into the movie NIGHTBREED (recently re-released as a directors cut). The name originates in the Old Testament Bible. In the Barker story Midian is a safe place inhabited by sympathetic monsters who are persecuted by humans who don't understand them. Midian has always felt an affinity towards the outcasts and misunderstood villains in all manner of stories. It seems to fit that years later she would be making monsters and movie magic as a career.

Some of Midian's other influences include; David Cronenburg (Videodrome), Jim Henson (Dark Crystal), John Carpenter (The Thing), Ray Harryhousen (Clash of the Titan's), Dick Smith (The Hunger, Amadeus),  Rob Botin (Legend) , Rick Baker (M.Jackson's Thriller), James Cameron (Alien(s)), Ridley Scott (BladeRunner) Brothers Quay, Jodorowsky, Jan Svankmeier (Alice), Oingo Boingo, Peter Murphy, and so many more.

Midian always had an interest in making movies or being a part of them, but Colorado had little to offer. When Midian saw that there were schools teaching special effects she knew instantly this was her path and dove right into education, earning a degree from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She returned to Colorado after working for several years in Pittsburgh and started Monster Makeup FX with her husband Joshua Adams. She made her directorial debut with a short film titled JUICE and intends to direct and produce more work.  Her biggest passions are working on genre films such as horror, sci fi and fantasy with her favorite being dark children's tales. She is exceptional in the lab, however, on-set Midian truly comes alive.
