Special Makeup Effects

 

Midian has a passion for the real movie magic. Turning the right materials into the right thing to create the illusion of reality.  She takes pride in the ability to create makeup changes that the audience never know are "fake". A scar, a tattoo, an aging effect, even creatures and monsters need to look as though they are the real thing. Midian is a designer, sculptor, life caster, mold maker (stone, resin, epoxy, urethane, fiberglass, silicone), casting expert in all the primary materials and techniques such as latex, foam latex, silicone, bondo tranfers, gelatin.

Lifecasting 

Creating copies of heads, faces, body parts or in whole of most commonly living although sometimes deceased persoon (which would be a death mask or deathcast). Used most often for creating a copy of specific actors so that prosthetic makeup appliances will fit properly. Also used for fine art and family memories such as when final copies are created using cold cast bronze. 

HD BEAUTY MAKEUP & HAIR

 

Midian has experience with a wide range of HD makeup looks. Natural beauty, glamour, male grooming and natural corrective makeup. She also does light hair styling. Midian has experience tracking her own department continuity, has been Key Makeup, Key Hair and head of character department, which includes all aspects of a character's look for small casts or key cast members. She understands both the technical as well as creative needs of the makeup and creative departments as a whole.

Latex masks, silicone masks, custom sculpted or fabricated (one of a kind, not molded).

SPECIAL EFFECTS, PROPS/WEAPONS

 

A beating heart, an animatronic creature, soft actor safe weapons, pneumatic blood effects, custom props and fabrication elements. If it isn't glued or applied to the actor, it happens in this area and Midian has experience creating all the practical in-camera effects elements needed. Custom design or realistic replication of factual items and scenic elements. 

COSTUME DESIGN & HAIR STYLING

Available now for commercial projects only. Experienced in creating the entire character look, the costume, hair and makeup. Costume designer for three feature films (including 1940's period), numerous shorts, commercials and media. Does not cut or color hair (makeup color changes only on hair).
